'09Enyò 2009 e BB Evò: new beers from Birra Boero and Barley
Birra Boero announced the version 2009 of their Enyò. This beer, created for the first time two years ago, it is born from a brilliant solidarity project for the supporting of the inhabitants of Togo villages. The whole income will be devolved to the Onlus Mama Africa, that developes a series of solidarity micro-projects since 2005, concerning surgeries, schooling, cultural activities, subsidies to agricultural enterprises, thanks to the volunteering experience of Prof. Enzo Liguoro.
The Enyò is a 5,2% ABV dark Pils brewed with moravian pils malts and Saaz hops. It’s available in 50cl bottles from yesterday, Wednesday 2 December. The earnings will be destined to the care-home children of Togoville for nutrition, health, schooling and professional formation issues. The Enyò will be a peculiar Christmas beer, different from the productions of the same kind, but certainly able to embody the spirit of Christmas. Another mark of the close bond between craft beer and solidarity.
For those interested in sustain this project I recommend to directly contact the brewery. The beer is available in 6 or 12 bottles packages.
Let’s take a look at the renowned Barley brewery, that is going to release a brand new beer. It’s called BB Evò, and it follows the path set by the BB10, as the name itself suggests. In fact it’s an evolution of this prize-winner beer, for which boiled wort (sapa) of Cannonau it’s used. The BB Evò is brewed with the sapa of Nasco grapes of Maracalagonis (CA), from which an ancient fortified wine is produced.
The beer, that will be available from Thursday 3 December, is aged for 3 months in steel vessels, to which it follows a period of maturation and refinement in bottle of over one year. The result is an atypical 10% ABV Barley Wine that in this first version it will be almost flat… a sort of “beer passito”. The second batch of BB Evò, available in few months, will be carbonated, more drinkable and hoppier.
These are Kuaska’s notes on the BB Evò:
Clean and very elegant aroma of white grapes and bitterish fruit, bitter almond and a clear healthy heat sensation, created from clean notes of preserved morels. In the palate it fully confirms the characteristics of refinement and gentleness and the notes of grape and morels and bitter almond enriched by grassy and peppery notes as well, with predictable notes of dried fruits and toffee.
A gentle barley wine, drier but rich of heat, more akin to an elegant cognac than to a passito. A classical meditation beer, soothing and digestive. Perfect for a relaxant elegant evening in front of the fireplace, enjoying a good film in sweet company, it can give great satisfactions paired with fine blue cheeses, as well as with chocolate desserts, creams and jams but above all with the irresistible and varied almonds pastries, boast of the Sardinian handicraft confectionery.
