Today Beernews reported that Ratebeer, the leading European website on beer ratings, has published its rankings of 2010. Among the many charts, we can be happy for a wonderful result obtained by the Italian pub Ma che siete venuti a fà, elected best beer bar of the world! If you want to know all the rankings, you should visit the related page of Ratebeer, because in this post I’m going just to leave some comments on the most important rankings.

Therefore the Roman pub wins this faboulous prize, ahead of a beer temple like Kulminator of Antwerp. The third position is occupied by another spectacular bar: the Akkurat of Stockholm. The rest of Top10 is a list of American premises, with the interesting exception of Bakushu Club Popeye in Tokyo. At the 26th position we can find another Italian pub, BQ in Milan. Congratulations to Manuele and Fabio for this wonderful result and – of course – to Luca and the rest of the staff for their “dirty” work.

As for the best productions, it is to be noted that the Belgian Westvletern 12 has regained the title of best beer of the world, surpassing that Kaggen Stormaktsporter (Närke brewery) that has dethroned it in 2009. The rest of the list is a sad proliferation of Stout and Imperial Stout, interrupted only by Pliny the Elder (an Imperial IPA by Russian River). The Top10 closes as it was open, with a Trappist: the Rochefort 10.

There is also a ranking for the best beers in each nation. In Italy the best three beers are Panil Barriquée Sour (Torrechiara), Dolii Raptor (Montegioco) and Xyauyù Etichetta Rame (Copper Label) by Baladin.

Three Floyd Brewing Co. is instead the best brewery in 2010, followed by AleSmith and the “rookie” Cigar City. These are three U.S. producers, as indeed 8 breweries on top 10. The American list is interrupted only by the Canadian Dieu Du Ciel! (seventh), the ruler of the latest editions of the Mondial de la Bière, and the Dutch De Molen, a brewery that is also widely known in Italy.
